Work Package 2: Citizen/Civic Science in Support of the Evidence-Informed Decision-Making Process

Nexus 2030 aims to make the decision-making process more inclusive and informed through Citizen Science, engaging citizens, the scientific community, and public administrations in an open and collaborative dialogue.

Work Package 2 focuses on developing a framework that enables citizens to participate in data collection and knowledge generation, supporting public policies with shared and verified information. This WP defines technological and methodological tools to integrate both scientific and citizen contributions, leveraging technologies such as AI and Big Data.

Why Citizen Science?
This approach promotes a “democratic science” that gives citizens an active role in shaping policies. Through co-production of knowledge, Nexus 2030 seeks to foster more open and accessible governance, building trust and encouraging greater inclusion in both scientific and decision-making processes.
